EBA Health Care Committee is one of the most experienced and numerous unions operating on the pharmaceutical market. It focuses predominantly on marketing, production, harmonisation, regulatory and circulation issues. A certain group within the Committee deals with medical equipment and medical devices. We can state for sure that no important event on the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine will happen without an active participation and involvement of member-companies of the EBA Health Care Committee.

The Committee was established in 2000 and within the past few years expanded into one of the most active Committees of the European Business Association having developed its own budget and structure. The Committee was set up as a platform for discussing health care system issues.

The Committee members cover companies involved in researching, developing and manufacturing pharmaceutical products, medical equipment and devices as well as rendering services in health care sector.

Having our own competent and independent position on the main issues of the healthcare and medical provision system development, based upon vast experience of other member-companies markets of the Association, we try to create an environment encouraging constant availability of effective and highly qualified medicines through implementing the most essential European principles of pharmaceutical business and through cooperating with everyone who deals with health care and renders medical aid and assistance for the sake of life despite a number of barriers and borders.

The EBA Health Care Committee members gather to discuss issues on developing effective health care system in the country, on establishing high quality medical devices and developing services market, on improving the key stakeholders in the sector – business, authorities and others, on establishing European business traditions as well as eliminating barriers to investment in the sector. Now the Committee comprises more than 40 companies.

The EBA Health Care Committee outlined its strategy objectives for 2010:

• Implementation of the reimbursement system and obligatory medical insurance in Ukraine
• Work for the facilitation of procedures of accession and circulation of medical drugs on the Ukrainian market
• Harmonisation of regulation of the immunobiological products in Ukraine
• Improvement of IP rights protection and facilitate cooperation in public health and pharmaceutical industry
• Harmonisation of procedures of accession and circulation of medical devices in Ukraine utilizing European experience
• Facilitation of environment in the sphere of conduction of clinical trials in Ukraine

Vitaliy Kiryk, Managing Director of the Ratiopharm Ukraine is Chairman of the Committee.

The managing body of the Committee is EPMG Decision-makers Group (European Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Group).

Every month the Registration, Medical Devices and Clinical Trials Subcommittees’ meetings take place. The Marketing and immunobiological working group meet on ad-hoc basis.
