 The EBA Fuel & Energy Committee was established in the year 2001 and is now chaired by Irina Merlitsa (Electricite De France).
It brings together top managers from companies doing business in fuel & energy sector as well as representatives of law firms and banks.
The Committee closely cooperates with state officials and representatives from institutions involved into the Ukraine’s fuel and energy policy making.
In 2007 following the initiative of the EBA Fuel & Energy Committee the EBA together with the Ministry of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine organized and held the First Energy Investment Forum in Ukraine.
The Forum became the biggest event ever held in Ukraine for the dialogue of the Ukrainian authorities and investors in energy sector.
The EBA Fuel & Energy Committee holds its meetings on monthly basis every third Thursday of the month at 4 p.m.
The EBA Fuel and Energy Committee agreed on the following priorities for 2010:

lobby for adoption of the Draft Law on Principles of Operation of the Natural Gas Market by Verkhovna Rada which would correspond with the EU practice and provide the competitiveness and liberalization of the natural gas market;

lobby for cancelation of the quotation for the import of the seamless steel casing and tubing that are not produced in Ukraine up to international standards till the local producers will get all necessary international certificates;

lobby for the full switch to Euro-4 standards by 2011, strengthening fuel quality control system and introducing stiffer financial and criminal responsibility for violating fuel standards;

lobby for transparent and level competition field on oil products market and implementation of EU practices in antitrust regulation;

lobby for the electricity market reform;

developing activities to insure smooth implementation of the projects under the Kyoto Protocol. |
